The submarine was designed at the Rubin Central Design Bureau. It belongs to the third generation of diesel-electric submarines. The series is being built for the Pacific Fleet.
Mozhaisk is a diesel-electric submarine. Fifth of the 636.3 series of six submarines. The Russian Navy has already included four: “Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky”, “Volkhov”, “Magadan” and “Ufa”. On the sixth Yakutsk submarine, full-scale installation work continues and the block modules are being prepared for docking.
