The original drawing by Ernest Howard Shepard, which appeared as an illustration on the last pages of Alan Milne’s Winnie the Pooh, appeared on the Dominic Winter Auctioneers website. The work is dated 1958.
The auction house said the drawing was found in the basement of Christopher Foyle, former owner of the English bookstore chain Foyles, wrapped in a towel.
Chris Albery, a senior worker at Dominic Winter Auctioneers, said this image of Piglet and Winnie the Pooh by famed illustrator Ernest Howard Shepard is a great value. The sketch was valued at $40,000. The auction will take place on September 27.
Recall that previously at another auction, Sotheby’s, more than 30,000 Freddie Mercury items were exhibited. The full collection of exhibits will be on view until September 5 in London.
