The PSOE has decided to leave the way clear for the possible investiture session of the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, thereby taking pressure off the decision of King Felipe VI, who began this Monday the round of face-to-face contacts to the formation of a new government. Sources from Ferraz have indicated to Efe that the party is not in a competition with the PP to see who goes to the investiture first, and they have remarked that what the Head of State decided “will always be fine.”
Insist that his position is “no pressure” on the King, as he does -they say- in the Popular Party. The same sources maintain that if the PP needs a third stumbling block to realize the reality that surrounds it, it will not be the PSOE that likes that idea enough and they recall the result of the elections on July 23 and the votes for the congress constitution. “It seems that the PP needs more information to get out of the ‘shock'”, they affirm from the PSOE, where they believe that if this has to go through a “fake” investiture they will not be the ones to prevent it.
The PNV castles and rejects Feijóo
For its part, the PNV, a formation that could help Feijóo become president, has considered through its spokesperson in Congress, Aitor Esteban, that the round of contacts that King Felipe VI opens this Monday with the parties of facing an investiture “has been summoned somewhat hastily”. Esteban has warned that there is “absolute uncertainty about possible majorities.” He has also acknowledged that he would not be surprised if there were a second round of consultations with the parties and he has not ruled out a repetition of the elections, although he has said that it is something that must be “avoided”.
In an interview on Cadena SER collected by Efe, the nationalist spokesman has assured that his party has not yet used in any negotiation for the investiture of any candidate and has made it clear that they will not support the popular Alberto Núñez Feijóo because the PNV does not it will be “in whatever combination Vox is needed.”
“It is evident that Feijóo’s candidacy has no chance of moving forward. Now, the other candidacy, that of Sánchez, still needs a lot of filming to be able to say that he is in a position to go ahead with the investiture, so that he gets the necessary votes We have just been talking about the table, but the investiture has not yet been spoken of and, therefore, more time is needed,” he reiterated.
