A moderately avant-garde fantasy series with mafia, intrigue, deception, monetary temptations, time travel and love triangles, “Overlap” did not cause much of a stir among the Russian public. But in the West the project was appreciated!
At the Next Media Web Fest, a festival of Internet projects held in Baltimore, the Russian series won in up to four categories, which is, in principle, very rare, and even more so today. “Superposition” (IVI) by Vadim Valiullin was recognized as the best fantasy series, as well as the project with the best script, cast and director. Maybe the project really impressed the jury that much, or maybe the force of inertia worked; After all, in Minnesota, at a similar Web Fest, the series was also awarded, but a little earlier, in October.
According to the plot of “Superposition”, physics student Alexey (Pavel Tabakov) goes in search of his father (Konstantin Lavronenko), who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He soon discovers that his father was not just a professor of quantum mechanics: he discovered the multiverse and confirmed that parallel worlds exist in which alternative versions of each person live.
Alexey learns about the existence of the brilliant scientist Antidok (Vladislav Cherbaev), who wants to subjugate all the worlds of the Multiverse with the help of his subordinates – the Hunters. But invading parallel realities is dangerous and can lead to his destruction, so employees of the mysterious Bureau are trying to stop Antidok.
— Would I like to meet representatives from other planets? – Lukerya Ilyashenko, who played the charming hacker Alina in the project, asked rhetorically. – No, I don’t want to meet them. And a lot has happened to humanity lately. So aliens, I’m sorry, but we don’t have time for you right now! (Laughter.) Don’t come yet.
I wouldn’t want to go back to the past either. Because the past is the canvas, the material that makes us who we are. And in general I liked it, even despite the negative experience.
