As follows from the release of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, Kan is accused of smuggling three thousand tons of crab, the total amount of gourmet seafood is 2.5 billion rubles. The investigation believes that, at the direction of the businessman, when transporting the crab across the border, the cargo was marked as less valuable and, naturally, sold for real value. It should be noted that the businessman also did not pay taxes totaling 3.6 billion rubles. According to investigators, Kan artificially divided the companies under his control and applied special tax regimes.
In May 2021, a business associate of Oleg Kan’s was brought to trial. He was sentenced to three years probation.
