One of the most important elements of the Oscar-winning epic drama Titanic is up for auction. The door through which Rose (Kate Winslet) escaped from a shipwreck and freezing water will be auctioned by the American house Heritage Auctions. The initial offer is 40 thousand dollars.
The explanatory note points out that the props in James Cameron’s painting are not simple props: they are based on one of the most famous wrecks, miraculously preserved after the Titanic disaster in 1912. And at the same time, it looks very similar to the decorative panel in the Louis XV style, preserved in the Halifax Maritime Museum in Nova Scotia.

The auction will take place from March 20 to 24. The door is 2.4 meters (8 feet) long and 1 meter wide. Auction representatives noted that such parameters make it possible to accommodate both Rose and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), who sacrificed space to save his beloved. Although the spectators hesitated for a long time, they drew the door and even conducted experiments, trying to lie down together on a piece of wood of the same size.
