The Treasury will earn 12.2% more from the sale of shares, homes and Letters

The Tax Agency (AEAT) plans to earn 18,908 million euros, 12.2% more than in the previous year, throughout the 2023 Income Campaign. The organization attributes this increase to the equity gains that taxpayers would have obtained from the sale of stock shares, housing, bank deposits – as a result of the rate increase applied by the European Central Bank to control inflation – and Treasury Bills, whose demand registered a record last year. All are operations that are not subject to withholding at the time they occur.

This Wednesday, April 3, the campaign begins with the declaration period for presentations made online. The Tax Agency (AEAT) plans to pay the first refunds in 48 hours, this Friday, in a campaign in which 23,281,000 declarations are expected, of which around 63% will be returned for an estimated import of 11,650 million euros, 1.8% lower than the previous year.

If the returns will begin to be made this week, those returns that are due to be entered will not have to make the first payments to the treasury until the end of the campaign, which this year will end on July 1. That day will end the deadline for the declarations to be deposited and returned, although those in which the deposit is made by direct debit must be completed until June 26 at the latest.

The telephone service for the preparation and presentation of declarations, which are part of the ‘We Call You’ plan, will begin on May 7, with an appointment request starting on April 29, and in-person service in offices will begin on the 3rd. June, with an appointment request starting May 29.

As confirmed by its General Director, Soledad Fernández Doctor, at a press conference, among the new developments presented this year, the AEAT has launched a special assistance plan by videoconference for those over 65 years of age who have their tax domicile in small municipalities. 439 municipalities have already joined this project, which will also offer help to other nearby municipalities, expanding its coverage to a total of 514.
