The Turnover of Spanish Companies Decreased on Average by 2.1% in 2023, Putting the End of the Formation of Two Double-double Growth Sectors of Empressarial Turnover (Icne) Published This Friday By The National Institute of Statistics (INE).
More specifically, the drop in 2023 occurs after Spanish companies recorded increases of 24.4% and 17.9% in 2022 and 2021 respectively.
In 2023 as a whole, the supply of electricity and water experienced the largest annual decline in its billing, with a decline of 28.8%, followed by industry (-1.9%). In contrast, sales of commerce advanced by 0.6% last year and those of services, by 6.2%.
Data by sectors
Corrected for seasonal and calendar effects, company turnover fell an average of 1.8% in 2023, with annual falls in energy and water supply (-28.7%) and in industry (-1.6 %) and increases in services (+6.6%) and commerce (+0.8%).
In year-on-year terms (December 2023 compared to the same month in 2022), company turnover decreased by 5.9% (-3.1% in the corrected series). In monthly values (December 2023 over November of the same year), business turnover increased by 0.2% in the seasonally adjusted series, a rate one point lower than that registered in November.
