The work, titled “Russian Tactics,” which the U.S. military posted on social media, was intended to be a textbook for “military training, vocational education and leadership development.” On the social network X (formerly Twitter, blocked in the Russian Federation), the military accompanied their publication with the question: “Do you know your enemy?”
According to the preface of the report, it examines in detail the tactics, organization and actions of Russian troops, describing how Russia will wage war within the framework of its doctrine. The authors also draw attention to the tactical concepts that the Russian Federation applies in preparation for large-scale military operations.
The manual contains a wide variety of information, from the places of permanent deployment of military units to the characteristics of weapons.
The most notable thing is that the authors warned that they decided not to evaluate the actions of the Russian military in the special operation in Ukraine, since they considered it premature to judge “to what extent they confirm or deny the doctrinal strategy and tactics.”
