This car model is the one that loses less value over time

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 06:24:15

Depreciation is the loss in value that a vehicle suffers over time. This phenomenon affects all vehicles without exception, since wear and tear, with the influence of advances in technology in the automotive industry and the new models that are being released, affects all models sold and in circulation.

It is true that some models end up gaining value over time, but these are rare cases that, either due to their historical significance, their uniqueness or who they belonged to, manage to be auctioned or sold for millions of dollars.

Although it is an effect that occurs in all the most common or current car models, the loss of market value of a car does not occur in a homogeneous way. Depreciation is most pronounced when the car leaves the dealership and during its first year of life. The drop in value levels off after the first five years.

The American search engine iSeeCars has analyzed the price of some three million second-hand cars, sold in 2022, and their value after five years of life. According to their results, the average depreciation of a vehicle in the last five years has been 33.3%.

These are the cars that lose less value

The car that has suffered the least depreciation according to ISeeCars is the Jeep Wrangler. Over the past five years on the used market, its value has dropped by 7.3% compared to what it’s worth new. This car is sold from 40,000 euros and can reach 70,000 euros, depending on the version and equipment.

The rest of the vehicles that have depreciated the least after the passage of five years, together with the percentage of value that they have lost in this time frame, have been:

Porsche 911 (-14.6%) Toyota Tacoma (-14.9%) Honda Civic (-16.3%) Subaru BRZ (-18.2%) Ford Mustang (-19.4%) Toyota Corolla (19, 8%) Nissan Versa (-19.9%) Chevrolet Camaro (-20.2%).
