Tim Burton was upset by the appearance of Superman and Batman in his films in The Flash

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 07:07:15

Tim Burton was not happy with the cameos of Batman and Superman in his films in the recent Flash. The director spoke about this in an interview with the BFI.

Warner Bros. movie came out this summer. One of his characters was Batman, played by Michael Keaton. The actor previously played the role in “Batman” and “Batman Returns” in 1989 and 1992, directed by Burton.

The Flash also features a cameo by Nicolas Cage as Superman. The Hollywood actor was set to appear in the red cape suit in Superman Lives in 1998, with Burton set to take the director’s chair. However, the project never made it to set. A BFI journalist asked the author of Corpse Bride if he regretted the cancellation of Superman Lives. By then, Burton had already spent two years working on the characters and the script.

“No, I do not regret anything. I’ll tell you this: when you work so long on a project and it doesn’t work out, it affects the rest of your life. If you are passionate about something, every aspect of it becomes an unknown and independent experience that no one has ever experienced. And the feeling of failure never leaves you,” the director shares his impressions.

“And then they do another AI stunt, and that’s probably why I don’t want to work with the studio anymore. They’ll take all your work, Batman, whatever, they’ll take it from you and do whatever they want with it. Once you’ve become a slave to Disney or Warner Bros., it’s bound to happen. Therefore, in recent years I have quietly rebelled against all this,” added the director.

Previously, Tim Burton said that filming on the fantasy “Beetlejuice 2” was almost finished. According to the director, the work was 99% done. Read more here.
