The traditional retailers or fishmongers have announced this Monday, after an urgent meeting of the management of their employers’ association Fedepesca (National Federation of Provincial Associations of Retail Entrepreneurs of Fish and Frozen Products), that they are joining the mobilizations that aim to promote agricultural organizations . , especially Asaja, COAG and UPA. In any case, the ‘how’ will be specified during this week, in accordance with the rest of the fishing value chain represented by extractive fishing (Cepesca and Cofradías) together with aquaculture through Apromar (Business Association of the Spanish Aquaculture).
Fedepesca does not hesitate to speak of “a situation of extreme vulnerability” despite the fact that it is a commercial format that is promoting a healthier diet and more sustainable trade. In this sense, in statements to ‘La Información’, its general director María Luisa Álvarez has clarified that “we do not plan to reach closure so as not to harm our clients and consumers” but she does speak of actions that reflect the discontent present in this activity.
