The two-seat AH-64 Apache was on a routine training flight when it reportedly crashed around 2:00 p.m. (23 GMT), the Mississippi Air National Guard said in a statement. Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar told NBC affiliate Jackson that the plane crashed on Highway 30 near Mount Olive Baptist Church.
According to the Mississippi National Guard, the incident is under investigation and no additional details have been released at this time. “We are grateful to the first responders and security teams who are still working on the scene along with local authorities,” the Mississippi National Guard said in a statement.
