Uber will make losses in the first six months of the year after obtaining a net profit of 237 million dollars (216 million euros). This has been reported by the multinational US mobility provider and collected by the Efe agency. In the first three months of 2023, Uber lost a loss of $157 million, but in the second quarter it made $394 million thanks to increased demand and revenue.
The results of the first six months of the year represent a great improvement in the accounts of the American company: from January to June 2022 the company had lost 8,530 million dollars. In the first half of 2023, Uber’s revenue increased 20.9% to $18.053 million, of which $9.23 billion is in the second quarter.
First semester result
Adjusted gross operating profit (ebitda) increased by 215% in the first half to 1,677 million dollars. In the second quarter, adjusted ebitda totaled 916 million dollars, a growth of 152%. In addition, gross reserves increased 18% to $33.601 million in the second quarter.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a statement that “robust demand, new growth initiatives and continued spending discipline produced an excellent (second) quarter, with the number of trips up 22%.”
Khosrowshahi added that 6 million drivers and couriers working at the company earned a record $15.1 billion. For the third quarter, the company expects gross reserves to reach $34 billion and adjusted ebitda of between $975 million and $1.025 million.
