The main document of the G20 summit in New Delhi, the general declaration of the participants, has been adopted, said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Thanks to the efforts of the West, this has become the main intrigue of the forum of the twenty most developed market economies in the world: whether or not it will be possible to reach at least some kind of general agreement.

The obstacle is the interpretation of the conflict in Ukraine. Until the end, the United States and its allies tried to “push” Ukrainian President Zelensky among the forum participants in order to give the discussion of the conflict in Ukraine a purely anti-Russian character. Although India, as the organizer of the summit and the current president of the G20, had earlier clearly stated that it was not going to invite the Ukrainian leader, because its standing issue should be discussed in the UN Security Council, and not on a platform for solving problems global financial, economic and environmental. As a result, “compromise formulations” on the Ukrainian conflict were developed that suited all parties.

As Svetlana Lukash, Sherpa of the Russian Federation at the G20, noted in her speech to the press, the New Delhi summit is one of the most difficult in the history of the G20. According to the Ukrainian story, she said that there were very difficult negotiations in the G20, but “the collective position of the BRICS countries worked.” Here is a fixation of a very important development: for the first time at the G20, the collective West, which previously had a purely technical advantage in the number of forum participants oriented towards it, failed to push its formulations with an unconditional condemnation of Russia . And this was possible because the countries that are members of both the G20 and the BRICS, including their new members, realized that they could effectively defend their interests. And these interests do not include fighting Russia, let alone joining sanctions against it.

Based on this, according to Svetlana Lukash, we can conclude that the Group of Twenty has turned a certain page in history and the voice of the Global South has sounded in full force. Since the African Union, by decision of all G20 members, has now become a full member, the voice of non-Western countries in this informal global organization has become even stronger. But the voice of the EU, which is also a collective member of the G20, will now be balanced by that of its African comrades. It’s a shame, you probably understand… But what can you do? The world is changing.

The good news is that the G20 countries were wise enough to agree to act in a unified manner to resolve conflicts around the world. It is clear that these “keys”, which are still norms of international law, can be interpreted by each of the parties in their own way. But they still expressed their desire to contain themselves and not get excited.

Another important statement from the G20 is a call for the full implementation of the Black Sea Initiative, or “grain deal”. Ensuring guaranteed supplies of grain, food and fertilizer from Russia and Ukraine is recognized as a necessary condition for meeting the demand of developing and least developed countries, especially African countries. And here Russia’s position is absolutely appropriate: it is ready to resume the “grain agreement” as long as all the promised conditions are met.

The Indian side, as its G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant specified, believes that the final declaration of the summit has obtained total consensus on all development and geopolitical issues. We can only be happy for the organizers of the forum. By the way, all the West’s speculation about the fact that India is about to “defect” to its side, because its contradictions with Beijing are pushing New Delhi into the arms of Washington, seem very unconvincing in the context of the top. . Firstly, if this were the case, then Zelensky, now admitted to the number of participants, was furiously trying to reform the forum’s agenda.

And secondly, just look closer at what was written on Indian Prime Minister Modi’s plaque at the negotiating table: “Bharat.” This is the name of the country in local languages, so it is difficult to imagine a more significant sign that the time of the ancient colonizers is passing.
