The Japanese chain of clothing stores Uniqlo terminated the lease agreements for premises in Russia. Vedomosti writes about this in reference to one of the brand’s partners and the owner of some shopping centers where there were Uniqlo stores.
The former Japanese retail stores are now occupied by other brands. Thus, in the Atrium and Europolis shopping centers Limé appeared in its place, and Gloria Jeans works in Afimall City, European and Fort Otradnoye. In Aviapark, as well as in Mega in Khimki and Teply Stan, Uniqlo rents premises for the new Lady & Gentleman City – Just Clothes project.
The head of the retail department of Core.XP, Marina Malakhatko, notes that the Uniqlo brand has finally left the Russian market. The company canceled all lease contracts for premises with sanctions and dismissed all staff with the payment of 11 salaries.
In May, Uniqlo decided to permanently close most of its main stores in Russia. At the same time, Gloria Jeans and Limé began to appear in their place.
