On the third day of the XV BRICS Summit, the participating countries agreed to accept new members starting next year. These will be Argentina, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Now the BRICS are not a close association of giant states, but a club of countries with a different politics from the West. Vladimir Putin summed up this change in his speech.
The President admitted that in the future the BRICS will have their own “single currency of settlement”. This proposal was made by the Brazilian leader Lula da Silva.
– It is a difficult question, but one way or another we will move towards solving these problems. It is about the organization of agreements between our countries in the field of economic activity, noted the head of the country.
Here are some other thoughts expressed by our president:
— The BRICS do not compete with anyone or oppose anyone.
— The process of creating a new world order has irreconcilable opponents trying to stop it.
– Modern colonialists, hiding behind the slogans of democracy and human rights, seek to solve their problems at the expense of others and shamelessly continue to extract resources from developing countries.
– The world majority is increasingly tired of the pressures and manipulations of the West and is ready for equal cooperation.
— Today, the attention of the BRICS is naturally focused on Africa.
— Our partners trust that Russia will always be a reliable supplier of agricultural products.
– By 2050, the world population will grow by 1.7 billion people and energy consumption by 22%. For the foreseeable future, there will be no alternatives to coal and carbon fuel.
