Vladimir Putin commented on the death of the former owner of PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, during a meeting with the acting head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin.
– Which is absolutely certain: the head of the Investigative Committee (Alexander Bastrykin – Ed.) informed me this morning – they have already launched a preliminary investigation into this incident. It will be carried out in its entirety and it will come to an end,” the president said.
The head of state added that investigators will soon have more information.
Despite disagreements with the authorities, Prigozhin was not prohibited from leaving the country’s borders and returning freely. Putin said that the deceased businessman had just returned from Africa.
– Yesterday, as far as I know, he returned from Africa. I met with some officials here,” the president said.
Vladimir Vladimirovich admitted that Prigozhin “worked not only in our country.”
– There he was engaged in oil, gas, precious metals and stones – revealed the head of the country.
During the recent Russia-Africa summit, Prigozhin actively met with visiting African politicians.
Putin admitted that he had known the owner of the PMC since the 90s. This, by the way, is not surprising, because Prigozhin owned the best restaurant in St. Petersburg.
– I had known Prigogine for a long time, since the early 90s. He was a man of complex fate. And he made serious mistakes in his life and achieved the results he needed, both for him and when I asked him about it, for the common cause, as in these last months, “recalled the president.
He did not directly mention the campaign against Moscow. Perhaps this can be considered postmortem rehabilitation.
On August 23, Prigozhin crashed in a plane. The Embraer Legacy 600 commercial plane crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino, in the Tver region. According to the Flightradar service, the plane took off from Moscow for St. Petersburg at 5:46 p.m. and stopped transmitting a signal at 6:20 p.m.
The official versions have not yet been named, but unofficially, according to the option study, one hundred was a terrorist attack. Presumably the bomb was in the tail. Due to the explosion, the wing of the plane was able to break, after which it fell like a stone. Witness testimony shows that the board crashed into the ground almost vertically.
The media also mentioned the version of the air defense attack, but it is apparently not a priority.
