According to the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Vladimir region, from March to December 2022, the 38-year-old defendant repeatedly sent emails used by representatives of the armed group “Liberty of Russia” Legion, which is part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (recognized as a terrorist organization, activity on the territory of the Russian Federation), filled out the application form of a candidate to join the formation, after which he decided to leave for the territory of Ukraine outside of checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation.
– In May 2023, the specified citizen was detained by officers of the FSB of Russia in the Bryansk region on the territory of the border zone while trying to cross the state border of the Russian Federation, – explained in the FSB in the Vladimir region
A criminal case was initiated against a resident of Vyazniki under article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
– In the course of the investigative proceedings, evidence was obtained that revealed the illegal activities of the defendants. In relation to the defendant, a restraining measure was chosen in the form of detention, – specified the regional FSB.
