The feast is dedicated to the birthday of the famous ascetic and educator. This year the Church celebrates its 300th anniversary.
After the service, the governor spoke with Metropolitan Sergius of Voronezh and Liskinsky, who recently turned 75. Alexander Gusev presented the bishop with the honorary badge “Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh” – an award for services in the field of education and the preservation of spiritual, moral and cultural values.
The head of the region also met with a guest of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection.
– We discussed the condition of ancient churches in the regions of the Voronezh region. Many of them are unique and are architectural monuments. Renovations are planned in several churches, but some objects require conservation before they can begin. We will work on it,” said Alexander Gusev.
