Wall Street closed this Thursday in mixed territory and its main index, the Dow Jones, rose 0.06% with investors betting on caution. At the close of the session, the Dow Jones stood at 37,775 points, the S&P 500 fell 0.22%, to 5,011 units, and the Nasdaq 0.5%, to 15,601 points.
According to analysts, the cold water of the Federal Reserve, which once again postponed the expected interest rate cuts due to persistent inflation, continues to weigh on the market. The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond reported up to 4.635% this Thursday.
By sectors, the decrease in technology (-0.89%) and the increase in communications (0.68%) stood out. Among the 30 listed companies in the Dow Jones, the biggest gains were for UnitedHealth (2.96%) and Travelers (1.88%), while the most affected were the technology companies Microsoft (-1.82%) and Intel (- 1.79%).
Texas oil closed at $82.73 a barrel and, at the close of trading, gold rose to $2.395 an ounce. At the end of the session on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), WTI futures contracts for delivery in May added 4 cents compared to the previous day’s close. The euro, on the other hand, was changing at $1.0643 at the end of the session this Thursday in the New York park.
