The entire outgoing season was dedicated to the founder of the theater, Natalya Ilyinichna Sats, who turns 120 this year. And, according to Georgy Isahakyan, the company did not let her down.
– The last two years have been marked by enormous challenges, which were both COVID and, of course, reconstruction. But even in these extreme conditions, we found our formats, and this foyer, in which we held the meeting, presented new projects, – the artistic director emphasized.
It was in the hall, while the Grand Stage was being reconstructed, that a project with a talking and consonant name was presented to the public this season: “Reconstruction”. He was remembered for a number of interesting premieres: these are vocal and symphonic programs prepared by the conductor Yevgeny Brazhnik and the choir director of the theater Vera Davydova, and a performance of the rare opera “Four Girls” by Edison Denisov; and a unique project “Drought / Flood” led by Maria Fomicheva and much more.
Especially Georgy Isahakyan noted the work on another original project of the Theater. Sats – futuristic trilogy “I, Robot”. This is the first theater project for teenagers not only for Moscow, but for all of Russia, which raises questions about the interaction between man and artificial intelligence.
The trilogy opened with the premiere of the opera “Love for Three Zuckerbrins” based on the novel by Viktor Pelevin, which took place at the end of last season. She continued: the computer drama “Her” (“Operating System,” came out in December). And just the other day, the audience was presented with the ballet hologram “Bicentennial Man” by Kirill Simonov with music by Gabriel Prokofiev, the libretto was written by Georgy Isahakyan based on the story of the same name by Isaac Asimov.
All three performances combine “live” classical theater and computer technologies.
By the way, it is the performances of the “I, Robot” trilogy that will open the new season of the theatre, which starts in mid-September. As for new performances, next season the audience is waiting for the premiere of the ballet “Fly-Tsokotuha” to the music of Dmitry Kabalevsky, and the opening of the Big Stage after reconstruction, the theater is preparing productions of the opera “Ruslan and Lyudmila” by Mikhail Glinka and the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” by Sergei Prokofiev.
