Why Kyrgyz people strive to receive higher education in Russia – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: May 19, 2024 Time: 08:05:23

Two traditional exhibitions of Russian universities were held one after the other in Kyrgyzstan. The first, in mid-March, was organized by the local public fund (PF) “Moscow Classics”. The second, in early April, was the Eurasian Cooperation Organization (Moscow). They were supported by the Rossotrudnichestvo representation in the Kyrgyz Republic, the country’s Ministry of Education and the Education Department of the Bishkek City Council.

These exhibitions are held annually. Organized by “Moscow Classics” it was already the fourteenth in a row. Representatives of 35 universities of the Russian Federation took part in it, who for three days visited several cities in Kyrgyzstan and talked about the advantages of receiving higher education in Russia.

Here you can get information about studying at universities such as Altai State Technical University named after II Polzunov (Barnaul), Baltic State Technical University VOENMEH named after DF Ustinov (St. Petersburg), Baltic Federal University Immanuel Kant (Kaliningrad), Voronezh State Forestry University named after GF Morozov (Voronezh), Vyatka State University (Kirov), State Society and Humanitarian University (Kolomna), Far Eastern State University of Transport (Khabarovsk) , Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok), Kuban State University (Krasnodar), Kursk State University (Kursk) and others.

In just three days, according to Olga Frolova, director of the Moscow Classics Foundation, the exhibition, which was held alternately in Bishkek, Kant and Kara-Balta, was visited by more than four thousand people.

The next event for Kyrgyz youth was an exhibition organized by the Eurasian Cooperation Organization (EOC). It was something different from before. The fact is that not only Russian institutions, but also higher education institutions participated in this exhibition. Representatives of universities in Kazakhstan and higher and technical schools in the Russian Federation also came to Kyrgyzstan.

According to Dmitry Danilov, director of the EOS project, on what is already a regular platform, educational organizations presented their training programs and conditions, talked about prospects for future employment and internships.

“The event was a great success,” Dmitry Danilov shared with the RG correspondent. – First we visited the cities of southern Kyrgyzstan: Osh, Uzgen, Kyzyl-Kiya, Jalal-Abad. Then, in the northern ones: Bishkek, Tokmok, Balykchy, Karakol.

And this exhibition, according to the organizers, was visited by several thousand young men and women. What aroused the interest of Kyrgyz people in such exhibitions and, consequently, in obtaining higher education in Russia? And why is the number of Russian universities participating in this type of exhibition increasing from year to year?

According to the director of the Moscow Classics Foundation, Olga Frolova, citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic strive to study in higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation mainly because universities today offer unique opportunities both in terms of the foundation material and technique as well as the choice of specialties. . “This helps young Kyrgyz people realize their dreams and ambitions,” says Olga Frolova.

The director of the EOS project, Dmitry Danilov, also agrees with her.

– Today conditions have been created so that students in Russia can, in a relaxed atmosphere, receive education and self-realize in the learning process. This, of course, is attractive,” she noted.

The second point is the availability of training. Every year, the Russian government provides places for applicants from Kyrgyzstan. Thus, hundreds of Kyrgyz people have the opportunity to study for free at universities. However, many do it commercially as their families can afford it. Today, according to the Russian Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, more than eight thousand Kyrgyz study in higher educational institutions in Russia. For the 2024-2025 academic year, 700 quotas were allocated, but it is quite possible that this number will increase in the near future.

– School graduates entering a bachelor’s or specialist degree, and students continuing their studies at the following levels, master’s and postgraduate studies, and already working specialists, those who want to improve their qualifications in relevant additional educational programs. To sign up today you don’t need to leave your city or town. Everything happens online and for free. You can enroll in six universities at the same time. Requirements may vary depending on the level and direction of education,” explained the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representation in the Kyrgyz Republic, Albert Zulkharneev.

“In Russian universities there are more budget-funded places for foreign citizens and, accordingly, there are more opportunities for applicants to enroll and receive scholarships, including higher ones to actively participate in university life,” Dmitry Danilov emphasized.

Regarding the interest of Russian higher education institutions in attracting applicants from Kyrgyzstan, Olga Frolova explains this trend as follows: “First of all, our students have excellent command of the Russian language, they do not need preparatory courses, they can start immediately after admission. study on equal terms with Russian students.

Secondly, the knowledge level of applicants from Kyrgyzstan in general is also quite high. Many, starting from the 7th and 8th grade, are already preparing for admission, turning to tutors and engaging in self-education.

Thirdly, and everyone notices this, our students have very good manners. Always treat elders with respect. This is generally a distinctive feature of all Kyrgyz. We have been working in the field of education for 10 years and constantly hear from representatives of universities that our students show such respect for both the elderly and the young that I want to shake the hand of the parents and teachers who managed to educate the young people of this manner. . These guys, of course, can’t help but please. Educated, intelligent, speaks Russian perfectly. This is the dream of any university. Many of them return home as highly qualified specialists, which is also rewarding.”

These two exhibitions were held as part of a spring project to inform Kyrgyz people about the nuances of entering Russian universities. The next exhibition will take place in the fall of 2024. It will take place within the framework of the Rossotrudnichestvo quota campaign.

– In our region there are more than 20 technical schools and colleges and more than 12 universities. Among them, the Chuvash State Pedagogical University stands out, which will be of interest to those who want to become teachers.

At the exhibition we especially present proposals from our schools and technical colleges. Because? Because labor professions are today the most important areas in both Russia and Kyrgyzstan for developing the real sector of the economy. All professions are intended to fill existing vacancies.

We can offer a wide range of specialties that are in demand in the service sector, agricultural sector, industrial sector, construction industry, road construction and mining industry. Good living conditions have been created for students. There are modern bedrooms, laboratories and workshops. Practical classes are held at leading industrial enterprises in the region, which allows students to receive quality education and become good specialists.
