The annual MTV Video Music Awards were held in New Jersey. It was visited by numerous celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Emily Ratajkowski, Shakira and Doja Cat. However, one of the main guests of the event was Taylor Swift, who acted as the main winner of the ceremony: she received nine awards at once .
The singer won in several major categories, including “Artist of the Year,” “Video of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Song of the Year.” She beat out Beyoncé, Shakira, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo.
In total, Swift received 11 nominations, but lost to other candidates in the “Best Editing” and “Song of the Summer” categories. The title of best new artist went to Ice Spice. The best collaboration was the song “TQG” by Shakira and Karol G.
Previously, Taylor Swift was recognized as the first woman to have four albums simultaneously in the top 10 of the US chart. Additionally, she entered the top 40 of the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in her career with seven of her albums. In history, only pop music legend Whitney Houston has been able to achieve it.
