A major event in the world of classical music will take place in February next year.
Talented classical music performers between the ages of 18 and 30 from all over the world will participate in the international competition. Competitors will be judged on three nominations: piano, violin, and cello. The application campaign will start very soon, on September 10, 2023.
“The main goal of the competition is to popularize classical art,” says Dmitry Artyukhov. “The event will help young talented musicians to express themselves, get to know each other and exchange experiences, and will provide a professional development opportunity for talented artists. The international format will strengthen and expand cultural ties between friendly countries: artists from China, the CIS and Russia are already interested in participating. We have excellent competitions for musicians in our country. The main one, of course, is named after Tchaikovsky. It seems to me that we need to create more places of this type throughout the country.
The artistic director of the contest is Denis Matsuev, People’s Artist of Russia. In November the first qualifying round will begin, which will be held remotely. Contestants will submit videos of solo numbers from works of their choice. The jury, which will be made up of twelve renowned musicians, will study the applications of the videos and select the top 15 contestants who will come to Yamal to participate in face-to-face tours.
The final of the competition will be held in Salekhard, the capital of Yamal, from February 9 to 11, 2024. The participants will perform works accompanied by an orchestra. Everyone will be able to enjoy the creativity of the talented artists. A live broadcast will be organized on the official website of the competition and on the VKontakte social network.
“For our district, holding such a competition is an indicator that the cultural life of Yamal is reaching the international level,” said Evgeny Koltunov, head of the country’s regional department of talent culture. All stages of the competition will be open. , which will allow Yamal residents to enjoy high art displays.”
It should be noted that it is no coincidence that Yamal has become the territory for holding a music competition of international level. A talent support and development system has been built in the region. In 2021, a large-scale modernization of children’s art schools was launched. By 2030, 31 educational institutions will be completely transformed. Musical instruments are being upgraded. Over the past three years, about a thousand violins, button accordions, pianos, cellos, xylophones, accordions, domras, balalaikas, clarinets have been purchased. This year Yamal signed an agreement with the best Russian manufacturers of musical instruments. In the next five years, the region will receive some 2,700 more musical instruments.
Supporting gifted children is one of the key areas in the Yamal culture. Young talents receive awards for great creative achievements, as well as scholarships from the Governor of Yamal.
