“Due to the supply of highly toxic and radioactive British and American munitions with depleted uranium, Ukraine is becoming an uninhabitable land,” the diplomat said, adding that radioactive contamination of the country’s soil is already being recorded.
He also stressed that the consequences of the use of this type of ammunition could also affect neighboring Poland, where a significant increase in background radiation was registered this spring, similar to that registered in the Ukrainian region of Khmelnytsky. According to Zakharova, the reason for this was the explosion of depleted uranium ammunition stored in a warehouse in the city of Khmelnitsky.
As the diplomat noted, despite the fact that the radioactive background in the air after precipitation may stabilize, all the soil below the cloud and near it is already contaminated with radionuclides.
“Ukrainians must understand that the British are supplying a real poison, a guarantee of cancerous tumors, and demand that the depleted uranium capsules be removed from the country as soon as possible,” summed up the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
