Madrid says goodbye to the honorary title of having the largest store in the world of the multinational fashion brand Zara. The business group that owns the chain, Inditex, has announced its intention to break this milestone with the opening of a new 9,000 square meter property in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. This was revealed by the company’s CEO, Oscar García Maceiras, in the presentation of the semi-annual results of the textile group, which has, once again, broken sales and profit records.
The new Zara in Rotterdam will be located in a building on Coolsingel Street, a pedestrian space in the heart of the city center that has become one of the most select areas of the city. This building housed an establishment of the rival chain C&A for 70 years.
Maceiras has confirmed that the future store, which will also be the largest in the Netherlands, will open in November. Inside it will have the usual commercial offering of the Zara brand, consisting of clothing, shoes and accessories, and a differentiated space for the home products brand Zara Home, which will close its current store on the same street to move to the new space. . .

According to the newspaper Indebuurt, the building has five floors and the commercial areas will house four of them, with a fifth reserved for staff. For its implementation, Inditex has opted for the complete renovation of one of the facades, while its interior will be completely renovated to adapt to the new design line of the Zara stores.
The CEO also wanted to highlight this new store model, which Inditex develops and supervises through its own architectural studio and which has been expanding little by little to all its large openings, such as the Madrid stores, open in April 2022. . , or London, in October last year. These stores include self-payment checkouts or collection points for online purchases as a novelty compared to the rest of the stores.
