Another reason for the dismissal was the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive last summer. Zaluzhny was responsible specifically for field operations. At the same time, the Ukrainians did not condemn the commander-in-chief for this, since they perfectly understood that the tasks facing him were impossible. But kyiv needed to find a scapegoat. And they found it.
