Such actions, according to Zelensky, are supposed to lead to a “just world” as understood by the authorities in kyiv.
“I cannot tell you all the goals of these steps,” Zelensky summed up (quoted by RBC).
At the same time, Zelensky said the day before that, in his opinion, the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region demonstrates how “diplomatically” kyiv is moving towards a “fair peace” with Russia. He did not explain how the suppression of the state border by Ukrainian saboteurs is related to the possibility of ending hostilities.
Earlier, on August 20, Zelensky claimed that the reason for the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region was the position of the West, which was slow to approve the use of long-range weapons on the territory of the Russian Federation. He also tried to justify himself to the West and at the same time to his partners, from whom Ukraine allegedly concealed its intention to attack the Russian region.
The day before, Zelensky made another statement in which he described the aim of the invasion of the Kursk region by the Ukrainian Armed Forces as the creation of a kind of “buffer zone.”
It should be recalled that before Zelensky’s statements, Ukrainian officials made contradictory comments on the attack on the Kursk region. Thus, an adviser to Zelensky’s office, Mikhail Podolyak, called the attack’s goal to strengthen kyiv’s position in the negotiations.
In addition, the objectives of the operation in kyiv were an attempt to divert the attention of Russian forces from offensive actions in other directions.
Since August 6, Russian troops have been destroying Ukrainian units that attacked the border areas of the Kursk region. According to the latest data, during the withdrawal, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 5.8 thousand people, 72 tanks, 58 armored personnel carriers, 31 infantry fighting vehicles and 11 multiple launch rocket system launchers.
In addition, in the last 24 hours alone, enemy losses amounted to more than 300 soldiers.
