When the Studio Ghibli film The Boy and the Heron was announced, it was mentioned that it would be the last film of our beloved director Hayao Miyazaki, who is already in his old age, and this can be a touchy subject, since he will not have time to make more films in his style.
For this reason, it was believed that this recent film would be his last as it took almost a decade for him to see the light of day, however, it does not appear to be his last, as stated by a representative of the famous Japanese animation studio.
Studio Ghibli head of public relations Junichi Nishioka told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on the red carpet of the Toronto International Film Festival that this is not Miyazaki’s last film, as he still has projects in mind.
“The Boy and the Heron is not Miyazaki’s last film, he’s already coming into the office with new ideas,” he commented.
It looks like our favorite director wants to work as hard as his body allows, because let’s remember that ten years ago, Miyazaki already announced his retirement, but this state did not last long and he returned to work on The Boy and the Heron.
For now, he has already left people in charge of the animation and is in charge of directing this magical story, besides the fact that at 82 he can still create another great film with the art that has always distinguished him. .
The Boy and the Heron premiered in Japan on July 14 and continues to be screened in the country while it prepares for screenings in other countries, but not before the incredible film festivals in Toronto, New York and London.
