Man Breaks into Closed Barbershop in St. Petersburg to Shave, Gets Arrested

St. Petersburg, Russia
A man has been detained in St. Petersburg after breaking into a closed barbershop early Saturday morning to give himself a shave.

The incident happened on May 17 in the Admiralteysky District. According to surveillance footage shared on the Telegram channel “SZFOshnaya,” the man broke a window to gain entry into the salon. Once inside, he calmly draped himself with a barber’s apron, picked up a razor, and shaved in front of the mirror.

The video shows him acting as if the shop were open for business. He moved with familiarity, handled the tools with care, and didn’t seem in any rush.

After shaving, he took a few trimmers from the shelf. What he planned to do with them isn’t clear. Maybe he needed them. Or maybe he thought no one would notice.

But someone did. A passerby saw the broken window and the activity inside. They called law enforcement. Officers from the Russian National Guard, known as Rosgvardiya, responded to the scene and took the man into custody.

No one was hurt. The salon, though, suffered damage to the window and loss of equipment. Police haven’t shared more about the man’s identity or his motives. It’s also unclear if he has a criminal record or a place to stay.

This isn’t the only odd event involving salons in recent days. In Moscow, six people reportedly vandalized a high-end beauty studio and turned on each other with scissors during a dispute. That case is also under investigation.

Stories like this leave you wondering. Was it desperation? A prank? Or something else entirely?

Whatever the reason, it ended with a shave, a few stolen tools, and a short trip to the station.
