Iki Ras: The magnetic storm lasted almost 70 hours
A long record storm, which lasted almost 70 hours, ended. This was informed by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Studies (IKI) of the Academy of Sciences of Russia.
“The past event was observed for 66 hours and became the longest series of disturbance and continuous geomagnetic storms since April 2017,” the scientists said.
Currently, geomagnetic indices are in the green zone, there are no forecasts for the renewal of the storm.
A series of magnetic storms began on May 28. As astronomers suggest, throughout their duration, geomagnetic disturbances will not be significant. The cause of prolonged storms was not called flashes in the sun, but coronal holes.
The magnetic storm intensified on the night of June 3. According to scientists, the fluctuations of the magnetosphere began to increase to three in the morning and reached the level G2 and G3, which corresponds to a storm of medium and great power.
