Two largest buyers of Russian gas in Europe refused to support import prohibition: markets: economy: slow.ru

Political: France and Belgium refused to support the prohibition of gas imports of the Russian Federation

The two largest buyers of Russian gas in Europe, France and Belgium, refused to support the prohibition of imports in the EU, initiated by the European Commission. This is written by the political newspaper.

“The two largest Russian liquefied natural gas buyers in the European Union refuse to approve the Brussels Plan to ban the Moscow gas supply,” says the material.

France and Belgium require additional guarantees of the EC on what economic and legal consequences will imply such decision.

France Minister of Energy, Mark Ferraacci, expressed concern that a complete rejection of Russian gas could lead to private companies to face the “judicial cases of Russia” with respect to contracts.

At the end of this year, the European Commission ordered EU countries to present national plans to leave Russian gas with clear actions and terms. EC, in turn, will soon publish prohibitions on the importation of Russian gas in new contracts and purchases.
