Tatiana Suárez has been through an incredibly difficult road and is looking forward to the title.
On the night of August 6, the next UFC on ESPN 50 mixed martial arts tournament will take place in Nashville. The co-main event will feature American fighter Tatiana Suárez, nicknamed “Khabib in a skirt” five years ago.
Of course, this is primarily due to the fact that the girl has first-class wrestling. Before joining MMA, Suárez was involved in wrestling, where she followed the example of her older brothers. She twice became a bronze medalist at the World Championships and won the Pan American Games. However, a serious illness got in the way of her. Preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, Suárez severely injured his neck. However, not only she injured her spine, it also turned out that she Tatyana had a cancerous tumor.
In 2013, the girl coped with the disease and returned to training. After beginning to practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Suárez later switched to mixed martial arts, where she still performs to this day.

The American got into the UFC thanks to The Ultimate Fighter. After three victories in professional MMA, he received an invite to the show, where he consistently choked three opponents in various ways and landed a contract with the promotion. The problem was neck pain. Suárez made his UFC debut just 16 months later.
In May 2018, Tatyana strangled future UFC champion Alexa Grasso in her usual style. And she immediately earned herself a comparison to Khabib Nurmagomedov. The experts noted how much Suárez dominates his rivals and does not give them a chance on the ground.
The girl herself did not hide that she liked such comparisons and admitted that she was learning some things from Orel, watching his fights: “I really like it when they compare me with Khabib. I am the big fan of him. I really learned a lot about his style. For example, the way he controls an opponent with wrist control. I practiced this moment for a long time, and it helped me. During the fight I controlled Grasso and at the end he turned his back on me. So thanks to Khabib for that.”
And Tatyana suggested that the nickname “Khabib in a skirt” be more concise: “Call me Tabib.”

Having scored a good move and breaking out in the UFC rankings, Suárez was again forced to stop. Her neck problems began again and the girl took a break from her career. Two years later, Tatyana announced that she was ready to return to the Octagon, but she faced another injury, this time a serious knee injury. Two more years of rehabilitation and another comeback.
In February, Suárez finally returned and celebrated this fact with a victorious guillotine in a fight with Montaña de la Rosa. He is now 9-0 in MMA and 6-0 in the UFC. This weekend, Tatiana, ranked 10th, will face former champion Jessica Andrade, who is ranked fifth.
If Tabib wins, expect a title fight. She explains this by the fact that she’s already won against the likes of Grasso and Carla Esparza, and Andrade’s scalp should send her straight into the belt match. We’ll see.
