On January 24, Ferencváros resumed the season with a 2–1 away win over Zalaegerszeg. The Hungarian champions pulled three points late: in the 94th minute, Adama Traore scored a goal. Marquinhos scored the first goal for Ferencváros in this match from the penalty spot.
Almost a year ago, on January 25, 2022, Stanislav Cherchesov started his Hungarian career with a match against the Puskas Academy. Then “Frodi” lost on the way – 1:0. There were objective reasons for this: in the winter training camp, Ferencváros worked in a very truncated lineup, several outstanding players withdrew at once due to covid.
However, Ferencváros, at the time of the resumption of the championship, had two games less than its competitors. The team was rescheduled when the Hungarian champions played in the Champions League qualifier.

Then on Saturday there was a home game with the oldest club in Budapest “Vashash” – a 0:0 draw. This game also carries over from the fall.
After these two games, Ferencváros continues to confidently lead with 38 points. Second-placed “Kecskemet” has 29, third-placed “Kishvarda” is even further behind – 26 points. And Cherchesov’s team has one more match pending.

In the championship, Ferencváros is doing well, Cherchesov is unlikely to miss the chance to win his third title in Hungary (there was also a Cup win last season). However, the main test awaits “Frodi” in March, in the round of 16 of the Europa League. It is understood that everyone at the club and many fans dream of the team going as far as possible in a prestigious tournament.
