Actor Sergei Selin took part in the project “Dancing on Ice” and even worked in the St. Petersburg Federation.
Parallel worlds sometimes intersect in very unexpected ways. Who would have thought that the star of the police series Anatoly Dukalis, actor Sergei Selin, is a fan of such a stylish and aesthetic sport as figure skating?
The famous actor is really closely related to the world of figure skating and even worked as an official in this medium for some time.
In 2006, Selin took part in the first show on figure skating – “Dancing on Ice” on the Rossiya TV channel. Next to him, Olympic champion Oksana Kazakova skated. “Smuglyanka”, “Clean Ponds”, “Bird of Happiness of Tomorrow” – the couple often chose well-known Russian compositions.
According to Kazakova, her partner really wanted to learn to ride, and for the sake of the project, she lost a lot of weight: by halfway through the project she had already lost 7-8 kilograms. I had to put up with constant movement: the couple trained in St. Petersburg, on the Yubileiny ice, and flew to Moscow for shooting.

For their performances, the couple first received polar ratings: for the same dance, the judges could set from 4.0 to 6.0. By the end of the show, Kazakova/Selin achieved a total of 6.0 from all the judges, with the partner joking that even in sports she did not receive as high scores as in the project.
Together, the actor and the skater reached the semifinal round, being among the top 4 couples of the project. In addition, illness prevented Sergei from performing in the final: he could not step on the ice, and Oksana Kazakova said goodbye to the audience with a solo dance. It should be noted that the project had a strong impact on the actor’s health: during his participation in the project, Celine also broke a rib.
But Selin didn’t just dance on ice. The actor noted in an interview that he spoke with Evgeni Plushenko and Elena Berezhnaya, he is also a good friend of figure skating coach Evgeny Rukavitsyn and gave a congratulatory speech at one of Alexei Mishin’s anniversary shows.

For some time, Sergei Selin was officially a member of the Council of the St. Petersburg Figure Skating Federation (since last year, such a body has not been provided for in the structure).
“I am a member of the St. Petersburg Figure Skating Federation. There was a time when I very seriously immersed myself in this sport: I know all our Olympic champions, I was at the Sochi Olympics, I went to training camps, I liked it,” Selin said in an interview with World of News.
The actor has repeatedly spoken about the topicality of figure skating in the press. Selin also has an unequivocal position regarding the removal of Russian athletes from international competitions. In an interview with Gazeta.Ru, he noted: “The United States and Europe are not the whole world. I do not understand this hatred of the so-called civilized countries towards our country. Of course, I am surprised that at international competitions and championships they want to do without Russian athletes, especially our figure skaters. Is it possible to feel better if leaders are excluded?
Celine also believes that figure skating is a must-see in the salon, just like ballet. At the Sochi Olympics, he saw skaters skate on Iceberg, together with the champions of previous years, and in 2018 he attended the European Championships in Moscow and, as they said, brought good luck to Evgeny Rukavitsyn’s student Dmitry Aliev.

Selin is no stranger to local competitions involving our skaters. Last season, the actor could be seen at the St. Petersburg competitions at the Academy of Figure Skating. History may repeat itself next season.
