Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will participate by videoconference in a meeting of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), which will be held from September 26 to 28. In case of delay, it will be extended until the 29th. This was reported by the CAS press service.
According to the source, a list of authorized judges was also presented in the case of anti-doping rule violation by a 17-year-old athlete. She personally approved that the French lawyer Mathieu Maisonneuve was one of the judges. In addition to him, the American representative Geoffrey Mishkin will act as a judge in the trial and the British James Drake will take the place of the president.
It is still unknown when the final verdict will be handed down in this case.
Valieva failed a doping test at the Russian Championships in December 2021. The test results became known after the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games, when Valieva helped the Russian team win gold. For this reason, the CAS has initiated an investigation into the matter.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) demands that the Russian athlete be disqualified for four years.
