When the Russian striker tried to control his nerves in VS, Kyle Burroughs pushed him a bit. That caused the striker to hit him in the face with his club instead of trying to avoid contact.
In one episode of the NHL regular season, Evgeny Kuznetsov played very hard in a game against Vancouver Canucks. He went 6-4 as well.
At the end of the second period of the hockey game, Kuznetsov broke through the doors of his opponent, but was unable to break through and lost his balance. His opponent pushed him back a bit and he responded with a low blow punch to the other player’s face with his stick. As Burroughs fell to the ice, Kuznetsov jumped on top of him three more times.
A two-minute penalty was given after Kuznetsov attempted to score unnecessarily. However, the league can still fine or disqualify him for multiple games instead of less.
The meeting ended with the victory of Washington, who beat Kuznetsov with a score of 6:4. Kuznetsov scored three assists in the match.
