Klopp’s team lost the derby against Everton. Now we have no chance of winning a trophy this season.
Everton cannot be allowed to be relegated to the Championship. The Premier League would lose a lot if it lost the Liverpool derby. Sean Dyche’s team is going through another difficult season: they regularly lose points both on the field and by FA decision, but the match against Liverpool changed the mood of Everton fans.
It’s surprising: Liverpool didn’t seem to be on the field for the first 30 minutes. And this despite the fact that, unlike the last day, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Núñez, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were in the starting eleven. Already in the 6th minute, the referee whistled a penalty in favor of Everton, but the VAR intervened and ruled it offside. And yet, in the 27th minute, Everton opened the scoring. There was a commotion in the Liverpool penalty area and the ball bounced to Jerrad Branthwaite, who fired home. Although Alison reached for the ball, it hit the post and went into the goal.

Only after this did Liverpool wake up. This is typical of Jurgen Klopp’s team this season. She is the season leader in points scored after a team falls behind. Salah had a good moment and Núñez had a great one. Jordan Pickford made saves in both the first and second half. The number one of the England team is the only one who can prevent David Raia of Arsenal from taking the “golden glove” (awarded for the highest number of clean sheets in the English championship).
While Liverpool missed chance after chance (Salah took seven shots in the game), the hosts bought time and cleared the ball, even if no one was there. And in the 58th minute, Everton scored for the second time. And it was Calvert-Lewin, who looked cursed this season, who did it. The forward at the far post headed the ball towards the goal. If even he is different, then it is difficult to count on something.

Liverpool certainly played more than zero goals, but failed to score. Although Luis Díaz hit the post towards the end of the game. Klopp tried to turn the game around with substitutions, but it was too late. In terms of commitment, Everton produced one of their best performances of the season and now look set to retain their place in the Premier League. Dyche’s team is unlikely to lose its eight-point lead from four rounds. At the bottom of the table they gain points at such a rate that Everton will most likely remain in the Premier League, even if they lose in all the remaining rounds.
Well, as for Liverpool, the season is over for them. The team was eliminated from the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League. The gap with Arsenal is three points (if there is a tie, the Londoners will most likely be higher on goal difference). The difference with City is already five points lost. It is unlikely that both suits will make two ruffs at the same time. Apparently, Klopp’s last season at Liverpool ends without trophies.
