The current champion was outshone by a newcomer! British Grand Prix scores

Date: October 16, 2024 Time: 23:26:35

The tenth stage of Formula 1 is late, but therefore even more subjective assessments of the author.

Lando Norris – 10

Brilliant performance from Norris, who even managed four laps at his home Grand Prix. Few people expected such agility from McLaren, but Lando brilliantly dismissed the opportunity and got the best result from him since Monza 2021.

Oscar Piastri – 9.5

I would like to give the rookie ten points, but he still lost to Norris in qualifying, and after the start he did not enter the fight, lagging behind. However, Piastri showed once again that he has a great future in Formula 1.

Max Verstappen – 9

At Silverstone, Verstappen took another dominant win, but before that he hit the pit wall with his front wing, losing to Norris early on and nearly losing to Piastri. Not an ideal performance for a driver with the best car in the field.

george russell – 9

Russell was unlucky with the safety car arriving, otherwise he could have held on for fourth. George for the fifth time this season ahead of Hamilton in the standings, overtook Sainz at the start and did everything he had to do. However, the speed was still not enough to pass Piastri.

fernando alonso-8

“Aston Martin” in recent races does not look as good as at the beginning of the season, but this should not detract from Fernando himself. He went from ninth to seventh at the start, and at the finish line he lost out to only the drivers of the three fastest teams.

Alejandro Albon – 8

After a strong Friday, more was expected of Albon in qualifying, although eighth place for reigning Williams is already a success. Alex then lost two more positions at the start, but was able to regain them due to the appearance of a safety car, and then retained Charles Leclerc. It wasn’t exactly a flawless weekend, but impressive nonetheless.

Lewis Hamilton – 7.5

Lewis, unlike his teammate, was present for the appearance of a safety car: this allowed the former champion to recover two positions at once and reach Norris’s attack zone. However, he couldn’t pass Lando, before that he lost two positions at the start and also made a mistake in qualifying, even if she was in Q1 and it didn’t affect anything.

Pedro Gasly – 7.5

Gasley passed Ocon in qualifying for the second time (and tied him), and had an action-packed race on Sunday, until Lance Stroll pummeled him. It is a pity that Pierre was not able to score points, because this weekend he was the fastest driver in the Alpin.

If it wasn’t for Stroll, Gasly would have been in the top 10 for sure.

Carlos Leclerc – 7

A qualifying mistake cost Leclerc a start from the front row of the grid, and then the Monegasque dropped back to the middle of the field due to an early pit stop. According to Charles, the initiative to change the tires did not come from him, however, the driver could not correct the situation: in the last 14 laps, the Ferrari leader could not do anything with Albon.

Valtteri Bottas – 7

Finn finished at the back of the grid due to a team error, which failed to correctly calculate the amount of fuel. Due to the long stage on the “hard” at the start and the appearance of a safety car, Bottas had a chance to break through, but Alfa Romeo was still unable to pass Williams at top speed.

Logan Sargent-6.5

For the second time in his career, Logan made it to the second segment, but violated track limits more than once, ultimately losing nearly a second to Albon. The start of the race was not the best either. However, Sargent on a familiar track was able to recover, establish himself in 13th place and finish, after Stroll’s penalty, to be 11th. And this is Logan’s best result in Formula 1 so far.

Carlos Sainz – 6.5

Like Leclerc, the Spaniard made a mistake on the qualifying lap (but in the final sector), and missed George Russell at the start, although Ferrari was able to stop the Mercedes. In the end, the Spaniard completely fell back to the tenth line, because before the restart he remained on the “hard” cooled.

Kevin Magnussen – 6.5

A constantly breaking down car did not allow Magnussen to prove himself at Silverstone, however, in those attempts that the Dane managed to pass, he turned out to be better than his teammate. It is true that, judging by the pace of the first 30 laps, during which Kevin was six and a half seconds behind Bottas, there was initially no chance of scoring points.

Nico Hulkenberg – 6

Niko Hulkenberg’s chances for points evaporated when Sergio Perez made contact and the Haas front wing missed his final plate. In addition, the German started quite badly, losing three positions. It’s a shame, because the Hulk looked promising in qualifying.

yuki tsunoda-6

It is not the most expressive weekend in the performance of the Japanese, although he has been ahead of his partner both in qualifying and in the race. Unfortunately, the speed of “Alpha Tauri” recently does not allow it to fight for a place in the top 10, and Yuki’s main rivals were Zhou and Hulk, who also had a bad day.

Sergio Perez – 5.5

Another failure in qualifying is the fault of Cheko himself, who lost a few tenths in Kops. There were no problems overtaking at Silverstone, but in the end Pérez couldn’t beat George Russell and also lost his position at the start.

Nick deVries – 5.5

Half a second behind Tsunoda in qualifying and a whole race at the back of the field that could bring de Vries nothing but experience. Compared to many other performances from the Dutchman this season, the Silverstone stage turned out to be quite good, but more was expected from the F-2 and FE champion.

Guanyu Zhou – 5

The Chinese driver looked very average in qualifying, losing more than 0.3sec to Bottas, and in the race he was forced to make an additional pit stop due to clogged film in the air duct.

Esteban Ocon – 5

Uncertain qualifying and mistakes (including on the warm-up lap) dropped Okon to 13th on the starting grid, and in the race, after nine laps, the Frenchman was knocked out with a hydraulic failure. In general, Esteban was not able to work properly at Silverstone.

Spear Walk – 4

The Canadian lost to Alonso in qualifying by more than half a second, then roughly shoved Gasly when he went off the track, receiving a natural penalty. Despite Aston Martin being weaker than usual this weekend, the car was quite capable of finishing in the top 10 even when starting from 12th.
