Alexei Spiridonov is reputed to be one of the most scandalous volleyball players in Russia. The player gained notoriety due to harsh statements directed at other states. The athlete especially dislikes Poland and often indulges in ridicule and even insults against the country.

The Russian rudely mocked the national symbol of the Poles.
Spiridonov is one of the best volleyball players in the history of the Russian national team: he has won gold at Euro 2013 in Copenhagen and two victories in the World League. Originally from the Tula region, he spent most of his career in Russian teams (Fakel, Zenit Kazan, Ural), in 2020 he left to conquer Qatar as part of the local Al-Ahly. Three years later, he moved to Al Jazeera from the neighboring United Arab Emirates.

In July 2022, a video went viral on social media showing Russian volleyball player Aleksey Spiridonov defiantly throwing a Polish national team jersey, representing the country’s flag, into a trash can. The video caused a special resonance among the Polish public. In the comments on the disc, the athlete was insulted and even threatened with death, to which he responded sarcastically, but the volleyball player soon deleted the post.
The athlete periodically organizes provocations against the Poles. Almost no team failure goes unnoticed by Spiridonov. For example, after the departure of the Polish team from the French in the World Cup, Alexey publicly thanked the latter on his social networks, calling them “brothers”.

Another action by Spiridonov ended in a huge scandal. In 2019, a Russian wrote a rude curse in the comments below the post of the volleyball player Karol Klos. Despite the fact that the athlete deleted the comment, he managed to cause resonance among the Polish public.
The Polish Volleyball Federation vowed to punish the Russian and supported the proposal for a monetary fine, but there were no penalties for the insult.

But this did not stop the athlete. Subsequently, Spiridonov, being a passionate fan of Spartak Moscow, could not get past the transition to the team of Maciej Rybus. When the Pole’s compatriots criticized this transfer, Alexei insulted the entire Polish nation, for which a wave of criticism fell on the athlete again.
