For two draws, Dmitry Kuznetsov’s “bloggers” have never lost to professionals in regulation time!
2DROTS is the most popular and titled media football club in Russia. The Samurai won two seasons of the Media Football League, as well as the Moscow Celebrity Cup 2023. In the last MFL draw, they reached the final, but lost to the Rodina Media team in Luzhniki. Darts also took part in the last Russian Cup: in the first round they defeated Chertanovo (3:0), and then only in a penalty shootout (1:1, 3:5) they lost to Tekstilshchik Ivanovo. This time 2DROTS went to Sakhalin in the final 1/256. The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk club plays in the third group of the Second League. Passable rival for 2DROTS: not in vain the club held training camps before the game. But Sakhalin himself hoped to go further.
At the beginning of the meeting, the teams looked at each other. They did not create dangerous moments, but it was immediately clear that the hosts would take the initiative. Sakhalin’s only approach at the start ended with a hit on the post, but this is rather the result of a mix-up in the Darts penalty area. The attack was stopped by 2DROTS captain Valter Sklar Edams at the cost of a minor injury (he was substituted midway through the second half due to injury). But still, the hosts moved more actively, groping for weaknesses on Sakhalin. And by the middle of the half, there was already a significant advantage for the team of Dmitry Kuznetsov. Several cool approaches created “samurai”, the only thing missing was the completion. The safest moment was missed by Danila Proshlyakov, a Spartak graduate, now playing in 2DROTS: she received the ball literally 7-8 meters from the goal, but charged much higher. The first half ended 0-0, but there was no doubt that the goals would come.

The beginning of the second half did not change the picture – 2DROTS had the initiative, Sakhalin tried to respond from time to time, but it went wrong. The hosts’ goalkeeper, Dmitry Sychev, had almost no work. But the Sakhalin goalkeeper Andrey Sorokin saved the team several times. But he did not help in the penalty situation. In the 69th minute, Ghanaian 2DROTS midfielder Godfred Klutsey burst into the penalty area and was cut back by Sakhalin defender Vasily Chizhikov. Referee Jan Maruszko awarded an undisputed penalty. Defender Denis Gudayev fired straight into the corner from a point. Numerous 2DROTS fans at the Moskvich stadium created a deafening noise celebrating the first goal. In addition, the scored goal calmed down the coach Dmitry Kuznetsov, who moved away from the field at the time of the penalty.
And the discouraged “Sakhalin” scored another goal. Maxim Frolov, who came on as a substitute just a minute earlier, stood out. He fired right into the left corner of the Sakhalin goal. 2:0 – there was a feeling that the result of the match was determined 20 minutes before the end.
Sakhalin got a good close almost on the next attack, but 2DROTS keeper Sychev parried a long-range shot with his chin. Having been handed a comfortable lead, the hosts did not force the attack, but Godfred Klutsej had one more moment. Having overtaken the Sakhalin goalkeeper, he missed the goal from an acute angle. “Sakhalin” rushed to the attack, but it turned out not as successful as the guests would like. And in the end, the 2DROTS winger Alexander Stepanov missed another moment – he sent the ball into the goal, but the Sakhalin goalkeeper Sorokin managed to kick the ball. As a result, the meeting ended with a sure victory for the hosts – 2:0.
Droty is the second media club in the 1/128 final of the Russian Cup. Previously, “Amkal” passed this stage, having beaten “Znamya”. In the next round, on August 22, 2DROTS will play Murom on tour. Will it be possible to pass another stage?
