Once again, the veteran did not miss the opportunity not only to express his position regarding Russian hockey players, but also to go much further.
In response to Ovechkin’s words, he forced the NHL to pay Ukraine.

The history of the relationship between Dominik Hasek and Russian hockey has long turned towards mutual hatred. It all started with the Czech’s harsh comments about Russia: in his statements, the former Spartak goalkeeper (it is worth clarifying in the context of history) periodically criticizes everything that is directly and indirectly related to Russian hockey: from condemning the performance of foreigners in the KHL (according to his words, for his performance in the league he should be imprisoned for 15 years) until the national team does not participate in any tournaments.

Now that everyone on the European continent has received their share of condemnation from the Czechs, he began talking to NHL officials about the correct attitude towards the Russians. Then his demand was ignored and he soon took more active measures: he prepared a whole letter to the NHL asking to suspend contracts with the Russians. As we can see, no one took the Czech’s attempts seriously, just like in the tennis association: he even did it.

– I’m not very interested in your statements. NHL clubs select players by skills and abilities, not by nationality, Ovechkin said in an interview with Izvestia.

– Alexander Ovechkin represents his country in the NHL and is advertising for Russia. Well, the NHL, which allows Ovechkin and other Russian hockey players to play, promotes this country.
