Vurnary is not the most remarkable village in the Chuvash Republic. With a very traditional story. It all started with the Orthodox community, then with the construction of the church, and then with the Soviet era: with a factory, a school, a hospital and a smooth transition to the 21st century. The main legacy of the past, chemical production, is one of the most important in the region. Around it is an urban-type settlement of 10,000 inhabitants, where in 2018 the Khimik-August team started a new story. The second part of the name is simply in honor of the sponsoring plant. At the same time, the club reached the round of 16 of the Cup of Russia Road of Regions for the second time in history.
In general, it was worth bringing football to Vurnary, at least for these landscapes. Simply canonical Russia: a cozy stadium for 1,500 people, surrounded by nature and small buildings. Just an emotion.

Naturally, the team is adored in the village. And they fill the stadium for many games. Since 2022, Khimik-August is a professional club that plays in the second division. Then they made their debut in the Russian Cup. And they immediately went to the third round, where, however, they received five goals from Zenit Izhevsk.
Now history repeats itself in part. But this does not end. The team is back in the third round and today they won another Zenit-Penza. Regulation time ended in a draw, but Khimik’s players fared better in the penalty shootout.
The celebration is a different story. It’s too real. One of the players ran towards dozens of fans who came out the gate during the game. The rest, for the goalkeeper, who made two saves. Then some strangers appeared in the field. The next scene: Players from both teams almost collided with each other for unknown reasons, but never actually got into a fight.

And one of the coaches is Valery Lobanovsky. True, this Lobanovsky is not the main one, but only an assistant. He played in several Russian clubs and ended up in Vurnary, where he stayed. Fans love to joke about the distant family ties to the famous Ukrainian coach. But he himself denies them.
