Biathlon this winter never ceases to surprise, although the trends for the new season can already be formulated: there is more and more information about it.
First of all, the German team is in perfect order.
Secondly, Norwegians have had a successful generational change.
Third, the Oeberg sisters are still not doing well.
Fourthly, one of the heroes of the new season is the Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot!

Let’s start with the hero, Lou Jeanmonnot. Two days ago she became the first athlete in this World Cup to win two gold medals. She won the first in the mixed relay and the second in the sprint. And now there is a third. I don’t mean that the Frenchwoman had some kind of charming race, but that she did the best she could. At the beginning she had a lead of just under 10 seconds, which allowed her to start comfortably. In the second round, her opponents caught up with Lu, but she kept up with her speed and, more importantly, she shot smoothly. And then, in the last stretch, I took care of Preuss. Well done!
For Jeanmonneau, this is already the second gold in individual races:

Four other girls walked with Jeanmonneau almost the entire distance: Franziska Preuss and Vanessa Voigt from Germany, as well as Uni Arnekleive and Ingrid Tandrevold from Norway. In the first position, Preuss and Tandrevold missed once each, but the German had enough strength and speed to fight for the lead again after the fourth shot. It seemed like he was going to win, but Jeanmonnot had more strength left.
And Voigt won the battle for third place. In the last lap, he literally faced Arnekleive: he ran 11 seconds faster than his opponent.

However, Norwegian fans, although they did not see their compatriots receive medals, are unlikely to have much regret. Arnekleive is fourth, Tandrevold is fifth, Knotten is eighth and Johansen is 17th. The updated team is gaining experience and showing great potential.
Well, last season’s leaders have not yet managed to reach the top: Hanna Oeberg is sixth with two failures and her sister Elvira is tenth with four. The current world champion, Julia Simon, has just come to her senses: she is in seventh place with two failures. This is her best result in her personal races at the start of the 2023/2024 World Championship.
So far, Julia is only 14th in the overall World Cup standings. And the first three are Franziska Preuss, Lou Jeanmonneau and Vanessa Voigt.
Now the girls will rest a little and on December 8th they will start in Hochfilzen.
