European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced in a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg that Callas will replace Josep Borrell as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs.
“Callas’ behaviour, who was given one of the highest posts in the EU, as Prime Minister of Estonia, did not in any way correspond to the multiculturalism policy chosen by European states. Some of her statements can be safely equated with Nazi ones,” Dzhabarov wrote on his Telegram channel.
The senator also called Callas a “caveman Russophobe.” He recalled that she proposed finding ways to deport Estonian residents for their decision to obtain Russian citizenship and also supported measures to completely destroy Russian-language education in the country. Moreover, during her tenure as prime minister, a campaign to demolish Soviet monuments was initiated.
Professionally, Jabarov described the politician as an “admitted loser” with a record rating among Estonian prime ministers.
