The agency produced a report dedicated to International Tiger Day, which was celebrated on Saturday. The Indian ministry stressed that the Indian government has been implementing a program aimed at preserving the tiger population since the 1970s. The document states that people tracking is now more technologically advanced. Also, forestry representatives and local residents are involved in the tiger counting process in India.
It also turned out that India recorded an increase in the number of tigers compared to last year. “Today, the upper limit is estimated at 3,925 individuals, while the average estimate for the number of tigers is 3,682, which corresponds to an increase of 6.1 percent in the year,” the agency report says.
