In recent years, the industrial sector has been claiming prominence. The need for electromechanics, turners or welders has continued to grow in recent years in Spain, germinating new job opportunities in several companies. With good working conditions, a rapid learning process and guaranteed job opportunities, it is one of the main alternatives to a labor market marked by precariousness and stagnation. The SEPE has just opened a job bank to find talent among professionals in this sector.
Some of the best offers within the industrial sector are presented by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE). THE OFFICES OF THE AGENCY CURRENTLY HAVE 7,563 Positions for Lathe Milling, 15,820 Positions for Welders, 10,923 Positions for Electrical Equipment Mechanics, 4,6667 for Machinery Assemblers, and 6,127 for Electrical Equipment Assembler. In total, these five specialties alone account for more than 45,000 positions dedicated to trades in the industrial sector.
However, there are a large number of unfilled vacancies. In the milling turner trade, for example, 52% of the positions are without workers, very close to the number of free vacancies for machinery assemblers. The number of unemployed positions continues to rise, reaching 59% of total positions in the welders sector, 62% among electronic equipment mechanics, and a maximum of 64% among electronic equipment assemblers.
The SEPE is now looking for young people specialized in some of these fields to offer them a job within the industrial sector. Through a process of expansion and professionalization, profiles capable of filling vacancies are needed, either to expand their knowledge in a specific field, or to try other job offers.
Requirements for SEPE job offers
For all those interested in applying for some of these jobs, there are certain general requirements that are widespread among companies and organizations. Firstly, it is required to have solid professional training within the specific area of work, normally a medium or higher degree in some specialty, which demonstrates prior knowledge in the subject. Applicants must be able to apply this knowledge in a practical way, including the use of specialized tools and solving different problems.
As the sector is constantly changing, many companies ask for professionals capable of adapting to new processes, technologies and regulations. Furthermore, the continuous digitalization and automation of some processes make it necessary to understand how to adapt to all possible scenarios.
Lastly, all workers must respect and support the company’s safety and quality standards, following its principles and showing commitment to the minimum and maximum standards of the sector.
