Scientists made the discovery in the Bayan-Chagan section during field studies of the flora of the national park in 2023. After analyzing the data, experts stated that the discovered population of talus is the fourth in Russia and, possibly, the largest reserve of this plant in our country.
“This rare species had previously been recorded only in three places, in Mongolia and in Russia, on the Talduair ridge and in the upper reaches of the Sarzhemata River, also in the Sailyugem National Park,” explains Igor Volkov, a researcher at the national park. and the author of the study.
Additional research will be carried out to clarify the status of Astragalus notablea. The population found will remain under the protection of specialists.
