For the second time, the potato festival was held in the picturesque town located on the banks of the Lena River. Residents want it to be traditional.

Guests were able to taste 100 different dishes made from Bulgunnyakhtakh potatoes, famous for their special taste, buy agricultural products and learn something useful at master classes. The “Three Generations” family contest and the “Kyndykan” ethnic concert were also held.

The key event of the rural festival was the cooking of French fries over an open fire. For this purpose, a huge baking tray measuring two meters long by 1.25 meters wide and large wooden spatulas were specially manufactured.

160 people participated in the first record-breaking event in the town’s history. They were able to cook more than 70 kilograms of French fries. A representative of the “Book of Records of Yakutia” officially recorded the achievements of the Bulgunnyakhtakhites and presented a certificate. And all the people ate the delicious dish together.

– We celebrate this festival to popularize Bulgunnyakhtakh potatoes. I think many people know its taste and how well it grows in our village,” Aitalina Vasilyeva, head of the administration of the Malzhagarsky municipality 1st Nasleg, told RG.

If each locality in Yakutia also advertised its branded product, the volume of the regional record book could increase considerably.

Previously, four Guinness records and two Russian records were set in the republic. The most famous of them: the most popular circle dance Osuokhai and the largest carpet sewn by folk craftswomen.
